CFTC Positioning Report: EUR net shorts climbed further
These are the main highlights of the latest CFTC report for the week ended on April 2:
- Speculators kept adding contracts to their gross shorts during last week, taking EUR net short position to the highest level since early December 2016, as investors continue to adjust to the neutral/dovish stance from the ECB along with deteriorated fundamentals in Euroland.
- On the opposite side of the road, speculative net longs in the greenback climbed to 3-week highs. Despite the Fed has shifted to a more neutral stance, the rest of its G10 peers have re-shifted their focus to the continuation of the accommodative/dovish stance.
- Speculative net shorts in the Japanese Yen rose to the highest level since December 31 2018 helped by the renewed optimism around the risk-associated universe.
- Extending the positive momentum, RUB net longs continued to grow to new multi-year highs beyond 34K contracts.
